Porter recruitment rally

TEZU, Jul 29: Generating an employment opportunity for the youth of Lohit district in particular and Arunachal Pradesh in the general, the 14th Battalion the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles is going to conduct a Recruitment  Rally of six hundreds Male Porters for a period of 179 days from 1st September 2011 to 26 February 2012 from Arunachal Pradesh as Porters to work in the general area of Tezu, Hayuliang, Walong, and Kibithu.

Porters will be engaged for construction of barracks, bunkers and tracks. Recruitment rally of porters will be carried out on 5th August to 11th August at Jubilee Ground at 0600 to 1400 Hrs, and on 11th August to 12th August at Military Station Dinjan at same time. Eligibility conditions-- age, 18 to 40 years, should have PRC or Inner Line Permit and medically fit.

Photocopies along with original documents of character certificate, residence certificate verified by circle officer, police verification from nearest police station, voter’s identity card, birth certificate, mark sheet of class 10 or 12, latest color passport size photographs (four copies each-individual and next of kin).

Monthly payment of Rs. 9184/- (Approximately) along with free ration, accommodation, clothing, medical facility and transportation  will be provided for the duration. DIPRO

 

Book with wrong info destroyed

ITANAGAR, July 29: All Hrusso (Aka) Students’ Union (ARSU) headed by it president and general secretary collected around 200 books published by GGL group of publication with errors from all the markets of Tenga, Rupa, Bomdila  and  Dirang and destroyed them at Bomdila today. The union said that the book carries some wrong information which hurt the sentiments of Hrusso tribe. The union further said that all book stores of West Kameng district extended cooperation during its drive.

Meanwhile, the Union demanded the state Govt look into its demand and ensure that  no such books with wrong information be circulated in the market in  future.

 

Computer training prog concludes

ZIRO, Jul 29: The valedictory function of the Computer training on office automation for ministerial employees of Lower Subansiri district was held at the National Informatics Centre (NIC) here today with distribution of certificates to all the 25 participants by the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, Nila Mohanan.  Earlier, the computer training programme began on 19th July.

Giving away the certificates to the trainees the DC lauded the Administrative Training Institution (ATI) and the department of Personnel and Training, Govt. of India for sponsoring the training programme.

Emphasizing the importance of the training, she said, with the completion of the training, the office works will be faster and lighter. DC further opined that such training is also necessary for the officers and informed to take up the matter with the concerned authorities.

Thanking the Course Director, Hage Kago, DIO, for smooth and successful conduct of the training Programme at the NIC, she also appreciated the role of Course Coordinator, Raju Paul and other staff of NIC, Ziro for their role in the training.

Order issued to remove illegal structures

TEZU: In order to prevent and discourage unplanned and haphazard mushrooming of illegal structures in and around Tezu township the Lohit Deputy Commissioner has issued a notice to private individuals prohibiting all illegal encroachments and constructions within Tezu township. The DC further directed all MIB/OBT/SPT structure constructed within the right of ways to remove such structures, if any, immediately or within a period of one month from the issue of the notice.

Medical Camp

ITANAGAR: Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti recently organized six Medical Camps in some villages of Upper Subansiri district.

The mobile medical team with two doctors and paramedical staff conducted camps at Sippi, Menga, Lilydong, Maro, Kodak and Bararupuk villages.

A total 350 patients were examined for various ailments and medicines were distributed accordingly.

Villagers were given general informations and tips about various water-borne diseases and malaria etc. They were also made aware about various schemes of health departments and urged them to avail those facilities.

Rotary International of Dibrugarh, Assam supported Kendra’s medical activities in Upper Subansiri district by providing medicines and a vehicle.

Dr.Reddy’s Pharmaceutical, Guwahati, Assam provided some basic medicines.

Rs.80 crore for police infrastructure

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Home Minister Takar Marde paid an extensive official tour to insurgency-hit Tirap district including interior circle headquarters from July 26 and 29. The minister was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for H and FW and UD, Thangwang Wangham, DIG (East), Tirap SP, MLA K Lowang, Tirap DC, ZPM chairperson and others during his visit.

Addressing a series of public meetings at Kanubari, Kamku, Russa, Ronglua, Pongchou, Longding, Wakka, Khonsa, Lazu, Borduria and Deomali, the Minister said that the state government was fully alive to the plethora of problems Tirap district was faced with adding that the Home Ministry had been thoroughly apprised of the burgeoning insurgency problem in Tirap and Changlang and that adequate steps had been initiated by the state government to address the problem in right earnest.

The Home Minister told the cheering crowd at all the places he had visited that a sum of Rs. 80 crore had already been sanctioned by the Home Ministry for establishment of new police stations, upgradation of the existing ones and for creation of infrastructure and urged the Deputy Commissioner and the public leaders to make sufficient land available to implement the central package at the earliest. Marde announced that a mass Police recruitment drive for the youth of Tirap-Changlang in various categories of posts will be held in the month of September this year and asked the youth including the girls to take full advantage of the great job opportunity offered by the Home Ministry. He assured the people that the recruitment process would be free and fair and interview board will be headed by the Tirap Superintendent of Police. He also told the people that educational qualification had been relaxed from class X pass to class VIII pass for Tirap-Changlang. He urged the youth who had chosen the wrong path by joining various insurgency groups to participate in the police recruitment rally.

The Home Minister passionately appealed to the parents, intellectuals and civil societies to make sincere efforts to wean away the misguided youth from going astray and bring them back to the mainstream adding that their youthful energy should be channelized towards constructive purposes. The Minister in his public address at all meetings, said that the main purpose of his visit to Tirap district was to acquaint himself with the ground realities vis-à-vis insurgency-related problems and opined that all the Ministers should visit the interior places in the state to have a better grasp of the prevailing situation in the villages. He said that the present state government was committed to mitigating the problem of the people adding that the government would leave no stone unturned to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state and that no outside elements would be allowed to create law and order problems and harass the local people of the state. The Minister said that the local people should be allowed to live with dignity and make progress in life. While replying to a memorandum at Kamku Russa, the Minister assured to address the genuine grievances and asked the villagers to maintain peace and good neighbourly relations with Assam. He told the local people that the boundary issue at Kamku Russa is not an isolated one adding that people of other districts in Arunachal Pradesh living in border areas also face similar problems often.

On creation of Longding district, the Minister said that he fully endorsed the demand and assured of his full-throated support when the matter is placed for discussion in the Assembly. In his reply to memorandum submitted at all places, Marde said that the genuine demands would be taken up as per feasibility wherever possible. The MLAs, PR leaders, Chiefs and GBs implored the Minister to take up the insurgency issue and other problems, at the highest level to enable the peace-loving and law-abiding people live in peace and be a part of the developmental processes in the state. They thanked the Minister for his extensive tour to the backward Tirap district.

Parliamentary Secretary T. Wangham who was with the Minister through out the tour, threw light on the purpose of HM’s visit and on policies and programmes of the state government under Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin.

The Home Minister inspected all the police stations in the district and asked the police personnel to maintain discipline and carry out their duties sincerely. He also met the officers of Army and Assam Rifles deployed for counter-insurgency operations in the district.

On the side line of the HM’s visit one Panchayat leader at Kanubari said, “This Home Minister seems to possess dynamism and keenness to deliver the goods. His visit has boosted the morale of the people” While at Pongchou an old chief whispered,” Minister’s visit is welcome but it should be meaningful and the problems of the people should be addressed. CM calls on Governor

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin called on the Governor Gen JJ Singh at Raj Bhavan here today.

In the meeting, they discussed several development issues including forest clearance for Trans Arunachal Highway, acquisition of land for Arunachal Scouts and Itanagar Greenfield Airport project.

Taking up the issue of road communication in different parts of the State, they dwelled on the importance of restoration and up-keeping of Miao-Vijoynagar road.

Detailed discussions were also held on various youth and employment oriented programmes that could be undertaken by the State Government.

 

Surprise checking against illegal stone crushing

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: The Upper Siang District administration carried out a surprise checking of illegally operated stone crushers in the district recently and seized nine crushers.

The stone crushers so seized were being operated at Halleng, Jengging, Migging, Palsi, Kodak, Bona, and Kopu by the BRO, PWD and private parties in contravention of provisions under relevant Rules and Act since last many years.

It may be mentioned that Liyon Borang, DC had taken serious note of the report on illegal operation of stone crushers in the district and issued executive order directing all concerned department/ parties to strictly follow “ The Arunachal Pradesh minor mineral concession Rules 2002” and had directed the Assistant mineral Development officer and his staff to carry out the checking.  Meanwhile, the DC appreciated the AMDO and his staff and directed the officer to ensure that mining and its allied activities are carried out as per rule and there is no seepage of govt. revenue.  DIPRO incharge

 

Tiger 7 Soccer Tournament

Quarterfinals from today

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force entered the quarterfinals in the Second State Level Tiger 7 Soccer Tournament defeating Capital Complex Sports Club-B 3-1 in their last group ‘B’ match played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today. Capital Complex Sports Club-B which  finished runners up in the group behind ITBP team with 3 wins and a loss out of four matched played, also advanced to the quarterfinals.

The para-military force team opened its account in today’s match with a goal from Sheraph Bhutia in 9 minutes. Amit Liven Beck and Modhu Singh added two more goal in 21st and 28th minute. The team was leading 3-0 till the breather.

Hage Talo scored the consolation goal for the local outfit in 52nd minute of the second half.

Meanwhile, TTFC were given walk over against TPYC as the latter failed to turn up for their last group match today.

TTFC advanced to the quarterfinals from Group ‘B’ as winner  (10 point) along with MDFC (9 point) which finished second in the group with 3 wins and a loss.

Earlier, both Gora Makik ‘A’ and Gora Makik  ‘B’ teams reached the quarterfinals as winner and runners up respectively from Group ‘C’. The quarterfinalists from Group ‘D’ were BT XI (12 point) and Nirjuli Youth Welfare Association SC  (9 point).

Gora Makik SC-A will play against Nirjuli YWA SC in the first quarterfinal tomorrow at 2 pm while BT XI will lock horns with Gora Makik SC-B in the second quarterfinal at 3.30 pm .

The semifinals would  be held on August one and final would be played on August 3, according to organizing committee secretary Tai Roket.

 

OWA takes part in international exhibition

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Binny Yanga, Chairperson, Oju Welfare Association, accompanied by Nani Dai attended the SAITEX 2011 exhibition held at Johannesburg, South Africa.

During the exhibition, she had the opportunity to exhibit the ethnic and traditional products of Arunachal Pradesh. The products were found to be in great demand with great potential for export in the international market.

She encouraged to the youths of the State to engage themselves in entrepreneurial and income generating activities and avail the opportunities for export of our traditional products. The participants from India were facilitated by NSIC, Govt. of India.

 

Demand for minister’s resignation condemned

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: The Panchayat leaders and party workers of East  Kameng district  strongly condemned the  demand for resignation of Minister Atum Welly by ‘some vested interest group’.

A group of 33  people including panchayat leaders, Congress party workers and leaders of civil societies   in a memorandum to the Chief Minister said that  recent allegations leveled against  Welly by some vested interest group is totally politically motivated and uncalled for.

Stating that the people of East Kameng are strongly supporting the Health Minister in his development activities for the well-being of the state as a whole and East Kameng in particular,  the memorandum appealed to  the CM to continue his support to the minister in order to achieve his vision of peace, prosperity and development of the state in general and East Kameng district in particular.

Opposing the bandh  called by ARTIAF, the memorandum  further said that Forum headed by one Chopa Cheda does not enjoy mass based support. Moreover, they alleged that the  Forum leader is instigated by politically motivated vested interest group. Pointing out the order of the district administration against bandh call, the memorandum demanded that the bandh caller should be arrested immediately for defying the order of the DM.

The memorandum further demanded legal action against Sango Lamte Foundation and its chairman for allegedly misusing the  organization with ulterior motives. The signatories of the memorandum also appealed to the CM to issue necessary directives to the authorities for action against the accused under the Seppa PS Case No 116/2009, U/S 352/506 IPC.

Opposing the demand for resignation of Welly, All East Kameng Students’ Union and East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union in a letter to the CM appealed him to induct more cabinet minister  for speedy development of the backward district like East Kameng.  Describing the demand of the RTI activist forum for action against the minister as politically motivated, the union felt the due to present crisis, the development activities in the districts has been overlooked. They also appealed to the individuals and society to allow law to take its own course.

 

Capacity building training prog for tourism stake holders of NE

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Capacity Building Training for the Tourism Stake Holders of North East region is being organized by the Travel Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS) from 22nd August 2011 and shall continue till December 2011. Theoretical and practical trainings will be conducted in Sikkim entirely.

The programme is sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DONER, Government of India and supported by the Sikkim Government. Each state has been allocated 3 seats each of which one seat is reserved for the female candidate.

The Trainee has to undergo theoretical, practical trainings, they will be taken to all the tourist destination of Sikkim for eco-tourism and lastly they have to work with Tour Operators for a week to practically experience the ground realities of the tourism industry. The organizer will be bearing the cost for food, accommodation for the participants in Sikkim. Internal transfers will be provided during the trainings where as all out station trainees will have to report at Gangtok at their own cost.

Any tourism stake holders of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh are eligible for the participation, according a TAAS release.

 

DC declares Independence Cup tourney open

BOMDILA, Jul 29: It is high time that the youths take up sport activities and strive for excellence in the platform made available under the Panchayat Yuva Khel aur Krida Abhiyaan (PYKKA), said Deputy Commissioner Rinchin Tashi while inaugurating the District Level Football tournament this afternoon in the Buddha stadium.

Underscoring the importance of sports and the priority accorded by the Central and the State governments on promotion of games and sports, the chief guest DC Tashi called on the players to maintain consistency, discipline and strive for excellence in order to rise at par with the national and international players. There is no dearth of talent in our youths but  what we lack is the will power and proper motivation and of course; the lack of basic amenities, infrastructures and other mechanisms for tapping the talents at an early age, he said. However, he added that with the introduction of the Panchayat Yuva Khel aur Krida Abhiyaan, the shortcomings are being done away with and measures are on for promotion of games and sports in the district.

Earlier, Chairman of the Organizing committee ADC B Dehingia impressing on the need for discipline and sportsmanship spirit all through the tournament and in  and out of the stadium, hoped that this District Level Football Tournament being conducted for promotion of Games  and Sports would facilitate bringing out the latent talents in the youths which would go a long way in promoting sports activities in the district.

A total of 8 teams are participating in the tournament which is being conducted by the District Sports Association and the All West Kameng Youth Association for promotion of games  and sports in the district.

The day before, the 2 –day’s individual sports and field and track events with inclusion of traditional games and sports concluded under the same banner. The final match of the tournament would be played on 15th August to commemorate the 65th Independence Day of the nation. DIPRO

 

Miss Beauty contestants visit  charity home

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: As part of the social do’s the contestants of Miss Beauty of Arunachal-2011 visited Naharlagun based Missionaries of Charity -- a home for the destitute and orphaned today and shared emotional moments with the inmates there.

For almost all the contestants it was their first visit to this place and the sight of the orphaned, widowed and sick struck emotions and wet their eyes with tears, said Bina Talla Joram, president, Arunodaya Society – the organizer of the beauty competition .

Bina enunciated that the visit was to imbibe a sense of moral responsibility towards the society and to suggest that beauty pageant is not only restricted to beauty and brain but also to do with heart.  

The sisters of the Missionaries of Charity emphasized that real beauty lies in helping the poor and the downtrodden and suggested the contestants to work in this direction to have a blessed life.

The contestants along with the organizer also distributed fruits, biscuits and rice to the inmates that comprised 20 women and 25 orphans. Balloons were also distributed to small children.

Fifteen beauties from different parts of the state are vying for the coveted title at Nyikum Niya Hall on Saturday evening.

 

NSPSU organizes tree plantation prog

Nyapin, July 29: A two-day massive social service cum tree plantation was carried out by the students at Nyapin and Sangram, Kurung Kumey district from July 25 last.

More than 100 people comprising students and teaching staff planted saplings like Agar, Kodam, Nahar, Golmohar, Jalpai, Jamun and other plants in the surrounding of Govt Higher Secondary Sangram and Govt Higher Secondary School Nyapin.

Speaking on the importance of planting trees in the locality, AAPSU Convenor Ringu Kuku said that it not only makes the landscape little prettier but helps in sequestering carbon dioxide, thus reducing harmful ‘green house’ effect.

The plantation programme was organized by Nyapin, Sangram & Phassang Students Union (NSPSU) and led by AAPSU Convenor Ringu Kuku and Assistant Games and Sport Secretary Tarh Pappu.

 Meanwhile, the NSPSU has expressed gratitude to the senior student leaders- Ringu Kuku and Tarh Pappu for extending all the supports in making the tree plantation programme a massive success. The Union hoped that others would follow suit in creating awareness on keeping the greenery of the district intact.

 

District authority organizes sports competition

CHANGLANG, Jul 29: The finals of badminton competition of all categories at Officers Club here today marked the conclusion of the 15 days circle level games and sports events.

Various games and sports competitions such as 100 and 200 meter race for sub-junior boys and girls, 100 meter race for junior boys and girls, volleyball, cross country for both boys and girls etc were organized during the 15 days competition which was started on July 15 last here. Students from various schools under 16 years participated in the event.

The tournament organized by the District Administration Changlang and conducted by  District Sports Officer (DSO) and his team.

The prizes would be distributed on the Independence Day Celebration on August 15.

Aid agency

 

India is to set up a central foreign aid agency to prevent funds from being misused and delays in aid delivery. India's aid commitments have soared in recent years as the country seeks to improve its strategic, political and economic clout on the world stage, especially as China extends its hand.

The agency will be called the Indian Agency for Partnership in Development.

The move has been welcomed by policymakers who say a central agency will halt leakages, curb delays, slash operation costs and prevent projects being rushed through by individuals misusing their discretionary powers. Furthermore, aid would no longer be driven by territorial divisions and regional interests, making way for a cohesive aid strategy.

The agency will have to ensure quick decision-making and insulate aid from political considerations if it is to deliver aid effectively. Experts say that India's legal framework monitoring government procurement should be strengthened to boost accountability and to prevent it from falling prey to corruption.

The creation of the aid agency, believed to be modelled on the US international development agency, USAid, raises the question of whether India should be dishing out aid at all when it still receives international aid and suffers from rampant poverty and poor development. But supporters of India's foreign aid programme say aid helps the country's domestic agenda indirectly by opening economic doors, ensuring regional peace and boosting business opportunities in recipient countries.
